This is definitely the best way to do it. Having been an executor twice it really is not difficult and saves on very expensive solicitor's fees.
Also it helps to be dealing with routine tasks during a period of grief.
  • My mum died 2 years ago. She made me and my brother executors and we were the only people to inherit. It did make it really easy. My brother wrote a letter signing all the legal stuff over to me (he hates all paperwork), this also made it really easy as we didn't both have to attend meetings, banks etc.

I suppose me and my other half need to update our own wills. We made wills 22 years ago, before our 2nd child was born. Executor is currently other half's cousin. We need to change it to be our own son and daughter. We will definitely do this in new year.
I love a bargain. Now mortgage and debt free. hurray!!:smileyhea

my brother and my nephew .
It was really the heir and the spare .
My brother is older than me hence I added my nephew .

In truth I only made a will to stop my siblings getting anything ,without a will they got the lot .
I really have no contact with family so my will could change to reflect that at some stage .

I did enquire about keeping my siblings from my funeral but apparently I cant ban them .
