Wrong registration on car.

I spoke with the garage this morning and they have contacted the owner of the other car. We are both sending in the V5C to have them updated to the new keepers. The garage will talk to DVLA and explain what happened so hopefully it will not register another keeper on each vehicle.
Thanks for all the advice & input. I'm happy it has been resolved without too much hassle. Saving on the service was nice at this time of year too. :j0 -
Glad it's getting sorted.

It does seem strange that there has to have been a switch of plates at some stage. Why would you remove two sets of plates from two cars and then mix them up? As has been said, you should speak to DVLA as the car dealer, should be answering questions beyond a distracted apprentice. My own view is that there has been a stitch up somewhere, not a genuine mistake.
New cars dont come with plates, there was never any need to remove 2 sets and swop them for this mix up to happen.
It seems to now be getting sorted and the Op got a free service so all should be well0
