Epson Printer Basic Print Dialog now I've upgraded to Windows 7

So on Microsoft's insistence I upgraded my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 earlier this year. I'm slowly trying to get everything working again as before. One issue is that my printer now only has a very basic dialog when I select Printer properties. For one thing it only allows me to select between A4 and letter size paper. I'd like to print on some 6''X4'' photo paper but can't. There's an option to upgrade to the latest version (of the printer driver presumably) but clicking this does nothing. I've tried reinstalling the driver from my disc, but get the message that the printer is not recognised.
Anything I can do?
Thanks.

Have you installed Epson win 7 printer drivers ??
Your disc does not know win 7 exists .0 -
Go to the Epson website and look for suitable drivers for your printer.0

Thanks, the Epson website directed me to Devices and Printers on my computer.
That shows "Epson ESC/P-R" which must be my printer but this isn't a name I recognise. Anyway the instructions say to click on "Add a printer" which I do. Windows asks me what type of printer I want to install, a local one or a network/wireless/Bluetooth. It says not to use the former option if I have a USB printer (which I do). But I ignore this because the second option isn't appropriate. There's an option for a virtual USB Port or something. So I select that and the new printer has been added, and shows the dialog, so seems to be fixed, thanks.0
