Reinstating Dormant Accounts....from Abroad

My daughter lives in the USA and only rarely comes to the UK. She has two accounts in her maiden name at her parents' address, one with Barclays and the other with RBS which together have about £2000 in but both have been closed due to inactivity. Barclays & RBS have both said that if she comes in with photo ID they can arrange for her to have the money, but obviously this is not possible.
Does anyone know of any way she can claim this money from abroad?

she could, and should, have kept them active by setting up a SO for the same amount from A to B, and from B to A; lesson learnt one hopes. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
