Im sure thats exactly what it is. The whole class are doing it. Miniocc already does guitar but loads of the kids dont take an extra musical instrument class.0 -
Side income: what are you knowledgeable about?
Recorder goals ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl3ocdopidI
LOL im hoping that the Y2 music teacher will achieve to this standard as soon as possible!
In terms of knowledge, I can't think of any that anyone would want to pay me for unfortunately0 -

:rotfl: I was just illustrating that the recorder can be a serious study and was eminent during the Baroque. You may find your son takes to recorder better than guitar (different people are suited to different instruments).
Yes, initially it'll be simple three notes on a descant but there's no reason why those able won't be able to form a small consort by Y5/6 playing simple Baroque works.
People will pay for all kinds of things. I'm quite interested in fountain pens (as you likely know, thanks to GallyGirl taking the p***), as a consequence I know values quite well and often buy ones at a low price and sell them at a high price. Similarly, certain pieces of furniture, watches, cars, classic car parts etc. etc. Hobbies can earn you some extra money.
I also do music teaching which I charge £30 per hour for. If you play an instrument well or know how to speak a different language or even have good maths skills somebody will be willing to learn such skills at around a similar figure. If you're good with computer programming or some other related area, someone will want to pay. I know you write a blog, so must be a good writer and potentially good with computers; you can do something with that, perhaps.2018 totals:

You are quite right, there might me some recorder success. Miniocc loves music (although recently his taste has moved towards pop unfortunately) and I actually don't mind one bit if he's good or bad as long as he likes it.
My writing is okay I would say. Not great but not bad. You have great saleable skills it must be fantastic to be able to generate money from them as and when you wish. I need to wrack my brain to see if I can think of anything. I really have no real up to date skills to speak of. I'll have to become a lifestyle guru or a you tube sensation. That's all the rage isnt it!0 -
My cousin spends time every weekend trawling through scrap yards (we have several big un's near us), he then lists on eBay as apparently car parts from scrap yards are much harder to come by in other parts of UK. He does really well for extra cash that subsidises the times he can't work much (health issues). I'm not suggesting you do car parts but possibly clothing from car boot sales would be an option?MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Youtube is easier than you think. My best viewed videos are reviews of household appliances that you probably have 10 of in your house! Vacume cleaner has 250k + views, Pressure washer 200k+, blender 100k, steamer 50k.
You could even download a screen recorder and do tutorials for excel or something if you dont fancy appearing on camera?Mortgage Free 22/03/17

thanks all, have downloaded screen capture as that is very useful anyway. I am thinking of things that I can do.
I did actually start a youtube channel to save all my videos of my sons dancing as hes really good and I dont want to loose them.
Today I have make a payment of £40 to the mortgage and just under £7 has become payable on TCB so I have asked for that to be transferred to my mortgage account.0 -
The 10p TCB has come through so rounded up to £5!!!
I have another couple of £££ ready to cash out but that can't be done until tomorrow.
Need to set up my SIPP online access, will get the laptop out later.0 -
Hello OCC
That's some very impressive rounding there!
Excellent that you didn't have to drive to Glasgow after all and I think its so lovely that miniocc has the opportunity to play guitar, early experiences are so important.

HI OCC,
just a comment on extra income, a couple of years ago we fostered 2 boxer dogs. £300 pcm plus food. we had those dogs for 9 months. kennels are pricey. short term fostering can help .
