Nice to see you back Penny Pincher, right, need to crack down on this, have mountains of stuff in the freezer and I'm still buying which is madness so will do a meal plan now and TRY to stick to it. Breakfasts there are lots of cereals in for the kids and me, bread for toast, yoghurt there is a little of so might get the Easiyo out today and get some made. Lunches mainly sandwiches, some soups left, beans on toast etc. Fruit for deserts and snacks, will no doubt need more fruit as usual. Alternatives for kids abvailable when needed, got plenty of hm chicken and fish things, might make some fish cakes aswell.
Friday : Slow cooked beef with veg etc
Sat : Chow mein
Sunday : edited, out, DP just informed me
Monday : Chicken Korma, keema rice & naan, sheek kebabs too I thinkall HM
Tuesday : Bolognese with GB
Wednesday : Out on evening so will get something there as it's cheapish
Thursday : Omlette for DP, quorn fillet for me with veg
Friday : Burgers - beef and quorn
Right time to do a shopping list to go with that will hopefully be minimal, fruit, veg, potatoes, juice etc. Might see if I can bake some nice things for snacks aswell as just having fruit. Sure there is ingredients in to make something nice. One day I might be more organised...........

Hi Pen, great to see you back in charge.
Funny week next week as I'm out on two evenings and DH out on another.
The meal plan will look something like this:
Sat: Rick Stein's Crisp Chinese Roast Pork, using the last of the belly pork in my freezer.
Sun: Chicken with 40 cloves of Garlic, using some of our juicy home grown garlic
Mon: Meatballs with pasta or rice
Tue: Fish for DH (see what fishmonger has); I'm out for the evening
Wed: One of our HM ready meals for DH, I'm out again
Thu: Pasta for me; DH's turn to be out
Fri: Gamebird casserole, which has been on my menu plan for three weeks now and still hasn't been made. I've got three packs of mixed gamebird breasts in the freezer, and I really need to use it up.0 -
I only just recently started with meal planning - however I just found my first hurdle.
Next week is my 12-8 shift.
So I will have to leave home at 11am to get to work on time - too early to have eaten lunch yet. My lunch break will be about 4pm - which really is tea time. So in theory I will be having to skip a meal each day next week.
What would you all do? Cook in the morning and have that for lunch break and have a cup a soup on 10 minute break maybe??Dream of being mortgage free....

dawnylou - When I used to do 11-8 or 12-9 I used to eat when I got home. Breakfast when I got up, snack before I left, lunch was when breaktime was 3/4 ish then evening meal when I got in. Then was a ready meal, now would be a meal hm from freezer (something like chilli, bolognese, lasagne, casserole, curry etc) get out on the morning, that I could just reheat or pop something in the slow cooker so would be ready when I got home. (would use those times to stock up a few spare meals aswell to pop in freezer or fridge for next day)One day I might be more organised...........
