How to reduce "bedroom" noises

So I live in a 4 bed house with 3 lodgers. I am shortly going to be moving out and rent the house out fully. One particular current tenant is particularly "active" in the bedroom department. Their bedroom is on the 2nd floor and I can hear them from the ground floor. I really don't want to inflict this on future tenants.
The noises are a mixture of squeaks from the springs on the bed, and various thumps.
What can I do to reduce these noises???
I am loathe to remove all furniture, take up the carpet, take up the floor and lay sound proof insulation as it is expensive and time consuming to do this for all the bedrooms.
Would changing the mattress to a memory foam/non-spring one help?
Would extra carpet under the bed help??
Should I sneak in and move the bed away from the wall??
Help?!

Well if it's happening in the bedroom at least you know it's not happening in the kitchen...nothing worse than finding strange hairs in the butter.
If the noise is mainly squeaking bed springs though, sounds like the bed needs replacing.0 -

It's only 4 years old though, shouldn't it last a bit longer than that... though I guess it depends how much it's "used".Debt-free 27th July 2012!0 -
I think it depends how good quality the bed was to begin with and you're right, how much use it's had. Is it a divan base or the type with wooden slats? If it's the latter you could try tightening the base up. Divans are notorious squeakers though. It's only 4 years old though, shouldn't it last a bit longer than that... though I guess it depends how much it's "used".
If I were you I would just leave them too it though, if any of your other lodgers are bothered by the noise I'm sure it will get mentioned.0
