lmg jewellery valuation

has anybody had trouble with lmg jewellery valuations, in regard to low valuations, changing their valuations, we have had three on an old charm bracelet, £1000, £1995, and now £2495, the last of which matches our own jewellers post loss valuation, but the charm bracelet is 31g from lmg, a modern replacement, but 45g
from our own jeweller a like for like replacement viewed in the shop. We feel we are being forced to accept their modern lightweight replacement, or accept a cash settlement of £1247.50
but then we cannot afford to buy the exact replacement, they have done the same thing on at least 5 other items, any advice?

  • Have you asked them to source replacements for you?

If you have done this and they are unable to - then they should negotiate with you but IMO you won't get full retail price as cash.
  • the replacements they are offering are from their own personal jewellery service which you cannot view properly, only online

Ask them to send you a sample on the basis that if it is not suitable that you can return for cash.
