think there must be a hotmail virus today.
i just came on here to see if i could get some advice,
same prob everytime i log into hotmail avast tells me ive malware it wont let me put it in the chest, ive done a whole system scan and isolated it once but then as soon as i log back into the account it starts again. have tried 3 seperate hotmails and msn accounts and its on all of them
never had prob before this morning either0 -

For anyone who has suspicions of viruses etc. don't forget to run through the disinfection processes in the Malware/Spyware Removal Guide at the top of this forum ....

What file/directory is the "virus" in? (or what website is it comming from)... it may possibly be a FalsePosotive of a MSNMessenger file... Donot open it still to find out whether its a FP or not!0
-
it seems to be coming from the hotmail site itself, the file name is the same file name as usual when i open up hotmail i think, though the last few letters are /HoTMail?curmbox with those capitals in it, cant remember if that is the normal or not, im not a computer friendly person, i press buttons it does as i ask..mostly
how would i know if it was a false positive please0 -
thanks for your help skiddy, have reinstalled avast and now seems ok, well its not saying ive got sa virus anymore at least, so must have been the false one you mentioned0

Nice one
good to see users using their own initiative with solving the problem!
... or could have been an update from Avast rectifying the FalsePosotive0 -
my avast has just updated, i have msn on as well and no virus reported.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0
