Where to pay cheques in to my account?

Hi, my local HSBC branch closed recently and I have a cheque to pay in to my account. Do any other banks take them or do I have to travel to the nearest branch?

other banks may charge for the 'service' of taking your money!

Royal Mail and the nearest post box.

You should be able to pay the cheque into any branch that issued the cheque (as long as you have a pre-printed paying in slip for your account) without charge.

Not so - you cannot pay personal credits of one bank at another.
They do of course take bills, catalogues, etc but not personal accounts.

I have just been to Nat West and they would not take the cheque deposit for my HSBC account. But the Post Office did!!
