Scottish Power

Hope you don't mind me having a little rant, but Scottish Power have owed me £700 for 3 months now, and it's made me a bit cross.
Summary: Emigrated 4 Sept. Gave SP closing readings. They said that's all fine and they would process the refund. Nothing more for me to do. Contacted them at end of October, as no refund forthcoming. They said they were still awaiting my closing reading for 11 Sept (the day before our new tenants moved in). Explained that we were in Cyprus by 5 Sept and reminded them that their operative said that the closing readings we gave them were sufficient for them to proceed. Gave them the closing readings for 4 September again.
They said that's fine, and I would receive a refund within 10 working days, or failing that, an update on the situation.
Emailed them again after 15 days as no refund or correspondence received. No reply to email. Emailed again after 22 days. No reply to email. Emailed again on 28 Nov to advise that the matter was being reported to the Ombudsman. No reply to email. Emailed yesterday with copy of email sent to Ombudsman. Awaiting response from Ombudsman and/or SP.
Had the same problem with Npower. Got my money in the end. Will keep you posted.

Charge them interest on the money they are holding ... BoE base rate plus 8% per annum - comes to just shy of £20 so far.

All in the armoury bod! Will keep my powder dry for that but will give them reasonable time to respond to my latest approach.0

Quick update: Managed to dig out the CEO's email address, and he has replied promising a full response within 5 working days. Fair enough, 10th highlighted on my advent calendar.0

After emailing all the directors on the 27th November I have today had confirmation that my final bill has been calculated (manuall) and my refund (just shy of £600) is being processed. I'll believe it when it comes through but certainly emailing them was what sorted it.0
