T-Mobile - Unfair Credit Score Blemish

Options
Hi all,

I'll try not to make this too long..... I had a phone contract with T-Mobile. From day one it has been rubbish. I've been on the phone too many times with their useless support team and got nowhere. There's more to it but in the interest of keeping things short, I cancelled the contract and decided to put forward a case that they didn't provide the service with due care and attention under the sale of goods act.

They sent me a letter demanding £175 pounds to cancel my contract. I replied and explained why I feel they have breached the sale of goods act and told them that I expected my account to be closed and this fee to be waived. They responded on the 11th November and offered a reduction but they wouldn't waive the full amount. I decided to just accept the reduction and pay the remaining amount. I checked the account balance online a few days later but there was still no reduction on the final bill. I checked again on the 21st November and still no reduction.

I decided to call customer services. After a being passed around different departments I eventually found out that my account had been passed to a debt collection agency!! I'm livid. Can they do this? They have offered a reduction and have not applied the reduction, then sent the account to a debt collection agency!

I've since sent them another letter but have not had a reply yet. I'm still furious as I've had nothing but issues with T-Mobile since I opened my account and now this.... I've already checked my credit score online and it shows up as a late payment. Can I get this removed?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Lee

I think we need more detail to be helpful but I think you have shot yourself in the foot so to speak by not paying. That is the worst thing you can do. You should have got them to agree with it in writing (if you didn't). If you have it in writing then you will probably need to take the case CISAS if they haven't responded again.

    What were the issues?

Sorry I just saw you did pay your side of the bargain but again, you should have the other in writing. If they agree that they offered this, then they should be able to update your credit file and remove the negative data.

You should have asked them to email you with a confirmation number that they've waived some amount off the final bill. Now you have nothing to show for....this can be so frustrating.
