Dublin on a budget

Hi, my partner and I are going to Dublin in March 2015 and are on a bit of a budget but are still desperate tomake the most of the trip.
We've booked our hotel and flights so far and we’re now thinking about what we’re going to do while we’re there. We’ve already used Tesco Clubcard vouchers to buy tickets to Dublin Zoo (hopefully we'll get a day with reasonably good weather!) and are planning to buy Guinness Storehouse tickets with Avios points (we don’t earn very much so would wait forever to get a decent amount for flights). Currently the tickets would only be valid until the end of 2014 though so we’re hoping that it is extended soon. We’re also planning to do the Sandemans free walking tour which we did in Prague in August and it was fantastic.
Can anyone make any other suggestions for things to do on a budget? What about food, any tips for eating out as I know that it can be pretty expensive there? We’ll be there from early Tuesday morning through to early Friday evening so are hoping that there might be some deals to be had since it’s midweek.
Any tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Me and my friend did it this year in October. We bought a lot of groupons (you'll need to reregister as the uk side don't recognise the Irish side).
We had a steak meal on a hot stove (ended up getting it for €14 as groupon send you a voucher a few days after buying your first item. It can vary though as I got €10 off €25 but my friends offer was for a much higher spend).
We also did the Chinese buffet including a soft drink for €14, I think that was off menu pages which is like the Irish equilivant. We had 3 cocktails for €10 on a groupon.
There was a story bus tour for €14 which included a pint each.
We also did a dance class in a pub near the hostel we stayed at.
We did book the kayaking, but they didn't turn up. Eventually groupon offered a credit voucher, so we're trying to find a way to spend it. I'm going to try and post the links below if there on offer as I once typed up loads and it all disappeared.
I'd book as much as possible before you go as it's a very expensive place to go:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

http://www.groupon.ie/deals/dealbank_en_ie/10-thousand-restaurant-buffet-abbey-street/48698528 that's the buffet
http://www.groupon.ie/deals/dealbank_en_ie/lynams-hotel-dublin-carlo-s-restaurant/47161326 that was the steak place. It's off offer at the moment, but goes on offer all the time so might be worth looking in February. I booked it through groupon but menu pages allow you to book the timing, rather than call them up as they wouldn't reply to emails/ Facebook
http://www.groupon.ie/deals/dealbank_en_ie/traditional-irish-storytelling-1-1/46358791 that's the bus tour. They also have the offers all the time. We really enjoyed it, both the woman and male actors were very funny and informative
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g186605-d1553319-Reviews-The_Irish_Dance_Party-Dublin_County_Dublin.html that's the dancing. People say for €12 it's too much, but I thought it was a bargain. It was a good laugh too.
The other thing is the same pub above has night time entertainment. You can have a meal there, but it's ridiculously expensive. We just sat at the bar and had a couple of bevvies. It was well worth watching, excellent dancers.
One other thing is to get the local bus from the airport rather than paying for specific airport buses, still does the job at a cheaper price. If your flying with Ryanair it's was for us an early flight back, so we had to use it back but we got one that picked us up from the hostel for the same price (I think it was €6):T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Thanks, I didn't realise you could get Groupon for Dublin. I'll have a look at that.0 -

Kilmainham Gaol is an excellent way to pass an hour or so. The guided tour is about €6 if I remember rightly.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
