Buyer changed mind after item has been posted - what now?

Basically sold an item on Sunday night (low value) and the buyer paid straight away. I posted yesterday, marked as dispatched but received a message last night
'as i was out bid, i have since bought the item elsewhere'
I dont understand? They won and paid, if they are going to ask to return it, do they pay the return postage as the item isn't faulty? Completely confused
TIA

OP, probably the easiest thing to do is to reply to them to say that as per ebay the item was dispatched on xx before you received their message. If they would like to return item then please do so and you will refund their original payment once it has been safely received.
That might guilt them out of being silly and doing an INR, but also might put them off of returning it once they realise they do so at their own cost.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you all, well she has replied saying she got an email that the winning bid was retracted, not sure how the item was paid for without realising but she replied and said its fine as the item is on it's way - phew. Thank you everyone x0

A bid can only be retracted before the auction ends, so it wouldn't have been 'the winning bidder'. She's probably only paid for it so that she doesn't get an unpaid item strike for not wanting it.0
