Probate help - is this website legit?

Hi,

I am executor for an estate and have been dealing with the probate process myself. I now need to place Section 27 notices, and I came across this website which says they can help arrange this.

http://www.helpwithprobate.org/#!home/c1vho

I am a little concerned however, as I can't work out from the site what this organisation is or who it is funded by.

Has anyone used this site?

I guess I could just place the notices myself following the wording of existing notices in the London Gazette - are there any pitfalls in doing this?

Take a look at the London Gazette website. They provide all of the necessary wording for you. You just provide the name, address etc

According to the whois it is owned by Varsity Law. (https://www.varsitylaw.co.uk) I would think that they would probably charge a fee for something you can do yourself

    Their website says -
"When someone dies the law states (Section 27 of the Trustees Act 1925) states that adverts must be placed into the London Gazette and a local paper to advertise for creditors."

    whereas the law says -
the trustees of a settlement ... or personal representatives, may give notice by advertisement in the Gazette, and in a newspaper circulating in the district in which the land is situated.

Never trust a site that lies.

Because I had been handling my Dad's finances for some years before he died, I didn't pay for a notice - I knew there weren't any unexpected debts that could turn up.
