I opened a couple of Tesco`s for one reason only, to get the DDs.

There may be better rates such as Coventry 1.4% but the AA have just chopped theirs to 1.25%
With low inflation, the Fund for Lending rates can only go down.
Little wonder the 65+ bonds are being snapped up.

As did a lot of us, but Yorkie Boy over there has maxed all his accounts out, so is looking for the next best account

The PO doesn't seem too bad at 1.4%
  • The Post Office account is dropping to 1.3% from 2/2/15

Read the posts about getting money out of the PO, and you might not care for their interest rates. Plus, they are about to drop.

Coventry 1.4% but restricted to 12 penalty free withdrawals a year.

That shouldn`t affect Yorky though with the Yorkshire war cry of "HOW MUCH", there won`t be any withdrawals.

Doesn't suit me on several counts:

    1. The rate margin isn't worth the 'hassle' to me.
    2. Unlikely to need 12 withdrawals a year (but not for the reason you speculated upon!), but I'd rather have a 'clean' account (unless the rate margin was larger).
    3. I have enough accounts/account providers as it is.
    4. No experience with Coventry, but I'm guessing withdrawals are next day...not by instant/2 hour FP?

YB, I haven't followed the recent exchanges on this thread in any detail - but if it's you looking for a savings account: don't you still have your old Egg savings in YBS? Last time I looked they were on 1.35% (I have probably jinxed them now that I mentioned that rate).

Been 1.25% for a good while now, as is my Internet Saver. In fact, I'm expecting them to drop further soon (or at least receive 60 days or whatever notice that they will).

    @Yorkshire Boy

    I found this:

    http://www.habibbankuk.com/rates-charges/habib-bank-uk-base-rate/

Habib bank itself is pretty decent, though I don't quite trust Pakistani banks to actually update their damn web pages...

And the rates in the PDF here seem vague as well:

    http://www.habibbankuk.com/fileadmin/user_upload/PDF/HBL%20UK%20Schedule%20of%20Charges%20Dec%202104.pdf

If you can get 3.5% on an easy access account, that'd be amazing!
