Can you recommend some decent toddler reins

Options
My son is 2 years old and I want to get him some walking reins. I already have a cheap pair, which I don't like very much, as they seem flimsy and are quite difficult to fit over the top of coats etc.
I was thinking about getting some leather reins or some sort of backpack with reins (I have seen some kids wearing these, but I don't know where they are from).
Your recomendations please! (please no e-bay though!)

Do you know anyone whos going to usa? Were just back and bought these reigns from walmart and the little man loves wearing them but this amazon seller has them but the price is double what you would pay if someone could get them for you.

    Hope the link works!

I bought the Littlelife rucksack which comes with wrist strap attached. LO loves to put his water and ricecakes in it, and actually enjoys walking with it too.

It was £10.80 from above site, pluse free delivery. It arrived the next day! Cheapest I had found...

    It's great in here! :)
  • Hi highly recommend the back pack that is listed in the post immediately above. My friend had twins and she found she could also use these for much longer without it all looking babyish so managed to keep tabs on her two much easier.

In terms of just a wrist strap which I believe the first person has recommended is that the wrist strap can easily be removed by the child and can lead to more injuries in a fall and you have less control as to how far they walk away from you given they can stretch themselves across and easily get into the road in a flash where as a back pack or reigns have more capacity to keep them close to you.

Personally, I just bought the Mothercare range before my friend presented us with the backpack idea and the reigns I had were ok, although I agree they weren't that flexible at getting over a coat.

  • i had the little life one for my 2nd child (also known as the master of disaster) and it's great- he still uses the bag part now at age 4.5

I have used the Boots reins on both my children - I found them really good and much better than a wrist rein as they go over their bodies and so can be used to haul them up before they hit the ground if they trip. I have had no problem fitting them over coats either.

I got a pair from Mothercare in Orange with a Giraffe on. No problems whatsoever but I think my DD would love the backpack ones!

    Thanks for the link!

I have leather "traditional" ones as I have a coach built pram so needed that kind, and they were fine for both my children, but the rucksack ones look great-what a fab idea!
