help James villas have cancelled my villa what are my rights?

I booked a villa with James villas for 9 people and paid in full on a credit card I then booked flights and transfers on the same card and paid in full.

James villas have now said that the that the villa is unavailable as it has been sold they have offered me an 8 bed villa with a put me up bed but the one I booked was 9 bed. They have offered me a refund instead but surely this is not right. I booked and paid for a 9 bedroom one. I have looked at other villas and have found a 9 bed but there is a difference of about 44 pounds per person I asked James villas to pay the difference but they have refused. Do I have any come back on this? I can't change the flights they are jet 2. Does my credit card protect me? Thanks

They've offered you a refund, wouldn't expect them to offer anything else really. It's not their fault the villa isn't available.

Your credit card company wouldn't be able to do anything as you've been offered a refund.

The only protection you're credit card may give you is a refund, and seeing as you've been offered that already it's not going to help.

I think your best chance is to negotiate with James Villas, and either take the 8 bed and ask for a gesture of goodwill, or take the 9 bed and see if they'll split the increased cost with you as a gesture of goodwill.

I appreciate neither option is ideal, but you can get it sorted and still have a lovely holiday.
