We talked about the possibility of selling child on Ebay first time round, but apparently that's somewhat frowned upon, can't thing why!!!
We have told my little boy that there's a baby growing in mumy's tummy but it won't be here for a long, long time yet. He seems fairly happy with that, but is determined that it is going to be in his tummy too. If only! He's convinced it will be a boy baby and I think I am as well. Can't wait until the end Oct scan to hopefully find out so I can at least start planning and sorting out all the baby stuff I've got.
We finally did some matched betting last night - hooray! - and we're up by about £45. I don't think we'd fully appreciated how much cash flow you need - we had to put about £300 in, between the initial bets that we had to pay for and the Betfair. We managed to lose all the bookies bets, so at least it is all in Betfair now and we can hopefully make some progress with that. Also got about £60 through Quidco for the sign-ups which is always nice, hopefully it will all track ok!
Just got my Argos card statement through, confirming £0 balance. :j The first of many hopefully, even if it was only £100 on a buy-now-pay-later - YAY! Nat West next, hopefully by the end of Aug (although looking less likely since I've tied up available cash in matched betting now), Mint by Christmas. Need a big kick up the backside to get it all done!
Payday Friday so off now to make up the budget for next month...0 -
Yay!! Good news on the "nil" balance statement :T
Good news too on the matched betting - you will soon have a reasonable amount of profit. Cash flow can be a stumbling block though - I could have done so much more this weekend, but i got to the point where I didn't have the funds in the right place at the right time!
Still, they will all still be there next week, when the money is back in my bank!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Well done on both fronts. Matched betting is something I keep looking at but it makes my head spin! Wish I had the nerve (and intelligence) to give it a go!
Aww at DS thinking baby is in his tummy too. Reminds me of a conversation I had with DD years ago. She had noticed my wedding photo and asked what I was doing.
ME: "That's when I got married"
DD: With a look of complete astonishment and bewilderment "I didn't know you got married! Who did you get married to?"
ME: "Your Dad"
DD: "Well, why am I not there?"
ME: "Because you hadn't come out of my tummy then"
DD: "Oh right, and <insert brother's name> hadn't come out of Dad's tummy then!"
Hmmm!0 -

How cute!! I love little ones, my bosses little girl came up with a wonderful one at her birthday.
One set of grandparents had given her a toy piano with microphone. little one was so excited she was bouncing up and down... when her Dad asked he what is was she came out with this classic..... 'I Don't know!!!!'
Good luck on matched betting. It's not something I've tried. I'm scared of it and never have enough cash to give it a good start!Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

I was saying something similar to my DH yesterday, about how when I was little I thought (and assumed every other kid did too) that mummies had little girls and daddies had little boys! But he just looked at me as though I had two heads, so I'm glad to hear your daughter thought the same and it wasn't just me that was daft!
Thanks Hypno for the reassurance about the betting. I've had a quick nosey at your thread a couple of times and it looks as though you're doing really well. We did worry that we'd do it all wrong but all seems well so far! We told my DH's dad last night, and laughed ourselves silly: "The only winner is the bookie", and "Gambling's a mug's game'. No amount of protest can convince him that it is a risk-free bet "That's what all gamblers say"!!! Been out this morning to buy a little notebook (49p!) to keep track of all the different usernames and websites as we'll end up in a right mess otherwise.0 -
 Just rung our estate agents
 Absolutely useless!
House has been on the market since Feb with only 4 viewers (admittedly the market around here for larger houses has slowed a lot, but even so..) 3 were complete Sunday-afternoon-out-ers, the 4th was genuinely interested, but had to sell their own. They now have, but decided they can't afford ours, and so bought something else - however the estate agents didn't tell us any of that, despite it being them that sold the other people's house. Also, we would have considered a lower offer since our circumstances have changed, which probably would have made a big difference, but the agents didn't bother their lazy ar**s, therefore our only glimmer of hope has just disappeared, thanks to these people who want us to pay them around 3k for their service!
They also told me that if we wanted to change to another agent we'd have to get one of these dreaded HIP things. As it turns out that is a complete lie - if your house was already on the market then it doesn't matter who it is with, you don't need to get one. That lie was their final nail in the coffin!
So I've just arranged for someone to come out Friday to talk about changing over to them instead. Only thing is that the entire house is a tip. Being pregnant, I just can't be bothered tidying up. Working 9-7 for the next 3 days as well, so won't get much done then. Any ideas for motivation?! Or any tips that might come in handy to strike a deal with the new agents? Or should we not bother, and try to market the house ourselves to save the fees?0 -
Could you try doing a room a night? Popping some good music one and having a bit of a dance as you do it? I find it helps me.
Or how about having a treat but only once you've done x amount of tidying?Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

I think we'll have to do something like that, although I'd barely have the energy to turn the radio on, never mind have a dance!
I suppose instead of sitting here doing nowt useful I could make a start by cleaning the kitchen, but it is sooooo much easier to sit and moan about it than to actually get stuck into doing it!:p0 -
I know what you mean (although I am at work, so really should be doing something!)
I still live at home and my Mum is on holiday until Saturday and I was thinking of giving the house a really good clean for her. I think I'll start in the kitchen tonight.... I'll even clean the cooker  assuming we have oven cleaner in the house of course!
Even 15 mins at a time would be good, that way you can break it up through the day.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0
