Hows the cooking going? i think this challenge will do everyone lots of good in there path to being debt free and loosing a bit of weight.

going to look as matched betting today, its a good way to avoid my essay!

To be honest, there hasn't been much cooking going on, just less eating out!!! Although if you've seen my update on the other thread, we went to McDs this morning (but took our own drinks and so only spent £3-odds!). I need to do a decent shop as we haven't got much in, but going to try and see how much of what we do have I can use up before the cook-a-thon starts!

Not using the new car just yet - we've still got 3 on the drive and using the last of the petrol in the old one while it is still here, so not changed the insurance over yet. We've done really well on petrol so far this month though - not sure how!

Good luck with the matched betting - DH and I are both fairly good at numbers and it took us a whole day to get our heads fully round it! Now, looking at it there's nothing to it, it's all just about finding decent deals and odds at the bookies. One tip - I got a little notebook and wrote EVERYTHING we'd done in it - all usernames, passwords, which card I'd used, what bets had been placed, the odds, plus any rules relating to the free bets. You might never need a lot of the info, but if you do need something it is very handy to have it all in one place! I'm certainly no expert on MB, but I can do the basics so if I can help at all with anything then give us a shout - any luck talking OH into helping you with it? I love it when you try and explain the concept to someone and they say things like 'gambling's a mugs game', or 'the only winner is the bookie'!!!

hi PP, I seem to have fallen behind with your diary so just had a bit of a catch up.

Hope the house shifts soon - seems that the move will make a significant difference to your life.

I am still too scared to put up my SOA - so hats off to those who do!

Hypno, I've looked in on your diary so many times, but every time there's about another 20 pages! And you say there isn't a SOA among it, young lady?!

You're right about the house - it's the single biggest problem at the moment. Open weekend Sat & Sun to promote the fact we're paying stamp duty - surely someone will come? They'd better, for all the effort cleaning and gardening we'll have to do this week!

No, my SOA has never seen the light of day! Mainly because our income does not meet our outgoings by a long way, and I am expecting a lot of criticism of the things we do for the kids - skiing and karate.

We always somehow manage to get through the month by ebaying, mystery shopping, renting out the spare room, etc etc, but the SOA itself tells a very sorry story!!

I do keep thinking about it though........I may put one up and see what people can come up with!

    perhaps.....

    maybe.....

Go on...you know that everyone on here is lovely and nobody would dare criticise! And at least you know what to expect anyway: Have you checked your gas/elec/insurances lately and got Quidco back? Can you cancel your mobile contract? Do you really need that Sky package? I could go on...!:D
  • Plus, I think we may have guessed that ski-ing is expensive! :P

I don't think any regular readers of your thread would begrudge your kids' activities. We all know how hard the whole family work to provide them and how important they are to you all. I wouldn't dream of stopping my kids' activities either -they didn't get us into debt.

And my SOA / spending diary doesn't work really either. Somehow we spend more than is coming in officially but we always seem to manage.

Having said that your SOA is your affair and if you want to keep it private then that's your perogative!

EDIT: Oops, sorry Panda, for one mad moment thought this was hypno's thread! Pregnancy moment of my own :)
