Do you have an ebay account? If you're positive you didn't set up the direct debit, speak to your bank immediately.
It may be a spoof... but then, it has been known for people to steal bank account details and set up direct debits to pay ebay fees from someone else's account. My TV is broken!

If you have online banking just go into your direct debits and cancel it, if not go into your local branch0

Your bank has approved your Direct Debit Instruction to eBay Europe S.à r.l. . You will not have to worry about initiating your monthly payments on your account. eBay will automatically deduct your monthly invoice amount from your bank account 7 to 10 days after receipt of your invoice. This payment method takes effect immediately.
Here is the Direct Debit Guarantee for your information:
The Direct Debit Guarantee
* This Guarantee is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme.
* The efficiency and security of the Scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society.
* If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change JPMC Re: eBay will notify
you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.
* If an error is made by JPMC Re: eBay or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.
* You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society.
* If you choose to cancel your Direct Debit arrangement, please also send a copy of your letter to us.
Thank You!

Hm, looks pretty authentic. You might want to edit out your personal details from the post.
All I can suggest is to keep an eye on your direct debits...?My TV is broken!

just a word of warning, on the online banking, it might not show because its new and not been activated by means of the first payment going through. i would contact your bank in the morning, it will be on their system as a pending one until first transaction goes through. i would then contact e-bay and find out whats going on
good luck0 -

Well, if you only have one bank account then perhaps this means that they are going to start taking your fees by direct debit from somebody else's bank account!
I'd wait and see what happens. They have to send you an invoice before they're allowed to take a direct debit anyway - at which point you can double check whether there are any DD instructions set up on your account. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0
