Are iPad's on Amazon genuine?

I've noticed they are significantly cheaper, around £40-£50 cheaper than buying direct from Apple. I'm just a bit worried because I've heard sometimes fakes are being sold. This ipad will be a gift so I don't want any issues with it. It lists the sellers name as 'by Apple' so I assume this means it comes direct from the Apple Store. I'd appreciate any advice.

Genuine if sold directly from Amazon0

if its marketplace then probably sourced from somewhere where its a lot cheaper than the UK one of those grey markets"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

I'm not aware of Apple selling at discount prices via Amazon.
Apple generally do not discount their products from their own website or stores. I'd be surprised if they were selling them directly cheaper on a competitors website then their own.
Does it say 'By Apple' under the title or lower down.
If it's under the title it's just indicating that it's an Apple product - the actual seller is lower down. In this example this is not sold by Apple and Amazon is an intermediary.
As previously said if "Sold by Amazon' you'll get a genuine UK product.
If it says "Fulfilled by Amazon" then it's from a third party using Amazons logistics network. Make your decision based on their seller ratings.

You're right, shopbot. It just says 'by Apple' under the title and the seller is different. I should have read it more carefully.
I have found one that is fulfilled by Amazon and the seller has good ratings, but none that are sold directly from Amazon.0 -
I've just bought 2 ipad Air (16GB) for £275 each from Expediate Electronics (not sure if I should link from here). They came within 4 days, sealed in their boxes and looking great! Haven't opened them but they are 100% genuine as far as I can tell as all the packaging tallies with a genuine product and at least £80 saved between both

If you are looking today then presumably you are seeing the Cyber Monday discounts?
Most places sell Apple for RRP, because they can, but you do get some making modest discounts and in particular for big sale periods.0 -
I've just found one on John Lewis and it's even cheaper. It says they offer a two year guarantee so I'm thinking I'll buy it there.0

I've just bought a genuine Apple iPhone 6 from Amazon market place, and it was considerably more expensive than buying at Apple.
The only reason I bought from Amazon was that I had an amount of vouchers which I wanted to use up.0
