Purchased house but not given full access

Purchased house Friday but have not been provided with all keys so cannot access garden or garage to fully move into the property so now I'm going to incur extra cost from the van hire company to complete the move a week later, keys have been promised to be deliverd by the vendor today (Monday)
Where do I or don't I stand legally
Thanks

  • Probably entitled to recover your costs from the vendor but first port of call should be with your solicitor.
  • As it's now yours, you can gain access any way you want. Garage locks usually aren't very secure and a garden gate, padlock? Cut it off . . .

I wouldn't be paying van hire for another week.

On your own two feet, get a locksmith. You'll want to change all the locks anyway, won't you.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Why haven't they given you the keys to garden/garage ? If its because they still have stuff in them then personally I would only agree to storing it for them IF they paid for your extra removal costs (Although they've a ruddy cheek not getting their stuff out of your garden/garage - but Im an easy going fellow who knows things go wrong occasionally) If there empty just cut the locks or call a locksmith they are yours after all
