Just some ATOS PIP assessment advice

I just wanted to pass on something to those going to their assessment. This only really applies to mobility. When I attended my assessment, the health care bloke asked how I got there, so I told him I drove. He asked where I'd parked, and I said in the car park opposite.

When my decision was made the Decision maker refused any mobility needs because of that one response I said to the assessor. The decision maker said the car park was 30 meters from the building, thus I was able to walk 30 meters, and hey ho that was why I was receiving nil points for mobility.

The policy on this is very clear on mobility guidance, a t States you must be able to move up to 20mtrs or 50mtrs to get awarded your points. However you need to make clear to the assessor if the question does come up about how you got there, then state you're not able to do it safely (due to falls, or needing to sit down frequently or tripping etc), also you're not able to repeatedly do it, or in a timely manner. That is the guidelines they should be working, but I would bring it up when they ask how you got there.

I just wanted to pass that back as that was what I failed my mobility on, irregardless of the fact that I am always falling downstairs, in the street as my legs give way. Even though I said this to him, he only heard that I managed to walk from the car park. Luckily my GP report clearly stated I couldn't walk more than 20mtrs, safely, reliably or in a timely manner. So if you can get you go to state this, or your hospital consultant etc, you've a better chance.

Sorry if I've bored you...:o

Get a copy of the assessment.
Complain to ATOS that it is inaccurate, and the assessor mis-assessed you.
Ask for a mandatory reconsideration of the decision for PIP - on the same grounds.
