  • I'm sorry if I haven't caught up with anyone. It's been a horrible few weeks. Some of you may remember that my mum had been in hospital this year. On the 12th a police officer came knocking at my door, my mum had been found dead at home.

I arranged her funeral and it took place this morning. Have just gotten back home (three hours from mum's home and where the funeral took place) and am trying to distract myself; so far I've nearly bought £200 of clothes and managed to stop myself.

I've realised how much I buy things to boost me and to make me feel better. I kept wandering around Boots a couple of days ago, desperate for something to buy to make me feel better. It won't come as a shock to hear that nothing did make it better.

I've been keeping up my list (small things distract me well) and want to streamline as much as possible over the next few weeks. I have to start clearing out my mum's (rented) house, and some might remember that she was not managing. he was hoarding and unable to clean. It's going to be a job but if this doesn't give me the kick to start sorting out and streamlining, I don't know what will
  • Oh Roguey. I am so, so sorry to hear your news. I'm not quite sure what to say. I'm just really sorry and am sending all my best healing wishes to you. It's no surprise that you feel the need to be distracted - please don't be hard on yourself about this. I'm glad that you came here though - this is always a 'safe' place.

    Much love,

    Willowbee xx

    ((hugs)) for Roguey
Remember to take time out to take care of yourself - whether that be going for a walk, curling up in front of a film, or having a pamper session of some sort.

Roquey, so sorry that you had that shock and all the arrangements to deal with. I know that feeling of "needing to buy as a distraction, as we both understand all too well, it does not solve anything for more than nanoseconds, but it is really difficult to displace with another activity, lists helped me too:)

I sympathise about the "property clearing", when FIL died OH and his bruv and partners had two whole huge Edwardian houses, plus garage, and a workshop bigger than a studio flat to clear of 35 years collected junk and huge pieces of worm ridden furniture:( not helped by the fact that we lived 2.1/2 and 3.1/2 hours away:eek:

Take care, lots of hugs coming your way.

Oh dear, so sorry Roguey. Makes being concerned with the using up dregs of products seem very silly when compared to your situation :(

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.
  • Sorry to hear your news Roguey ((big hugs)) to you.
I remember a few months back you were having to deal with a lot in relation to your mum but i'm sure this was rather an unexpected shock:(
You must be feeling pretty numb and shell shocked right now and I totally understand the desire for a little buzz from some shopping.
Doesn't last long that's the only problem :-(
I hope you can find some sunshine in the dark days at the moment. Sending lots of positive thoughts in your direction.

And finally another UU to declare - probably my last of the month/year

    Mouthwash, Listermint, 300ml

I have a couple more bottles of mouthwash in my stash, but am going to wait until the start of the new year to open the next. It's something I'm only using because I've got it (won't be replacing), so I've giving myself a break from it for the holiday week ;)
