Fitting Firefox to the page

It has been years since I have needed to do anything like this and can't figure out how to...
But, how can I adapt Firefox to fit the screen? The frames at the moment are all too small (File, Edit and so on), since the lettering is too small, while I cannot see the exit X, which is off the edge of the screen. I am using this on a Suse Linux 10 platform and share the screen with another computer running XP. There must be a way of adapting Firefox on the Suse platform somewhere within its own programme, shouldn't there?
