Black Friday. Bought goods sold out!

I bought 2 x perfumes on the internet from Tesco on Black Friday. Paid by credit card and received confirmation E-mail. Last night I had another E-mail apologising and saying goods sold out and they would credit my account in 3-5 days. How can they sell goods they don't have!! Can I demand to buy their non-Black Friday stock for the same price? I know they'll get more stock in after the event. I'm sooooo disappointed, esp as I didn't look for these perfumes anywhere else once I'd purchased them from Tesco. Obviously no1 will hv them for a decent price now.

They only have to put you back in the position you were before buying.

They aren't obliged until dispatch according to the Tesco T&C's

Tesco Direct are notorious for doing this, its even been on watchdog. Their stock control system is useless!

Its happend to me about a dozen times, the last and worst example was last year when I placed an order (by phone) to replace another order they messed up. Item was in stock I was told, order went through. 3 hours later it was cancelled, out of stock apparently. 5 hours later it was back in stock so I placed a new order online - following morning it was cancelled, again out of stock.

Its a good thing people couldn't get on their website on Friday, lots of disappointment avoided.
