O/S Daily Sunday 30th November 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning :hello:
It was lovely weather here yesterday – a bit sunny but quite misty too. I didn't want to stay in the house so I put my wellies on and pottered around the garden. I swept, tidied and moved some empty pots into the greenhouse. I took my time and stopped a couple of times for coffee, it took around three hours to do what I could've done in an hourbut it was nice to just go slowly.
I spent the afternoon crocheting and untangling yarn – I'm not sure what happened but I managed to get myself into a knotty messI haven't sorted my craft things yet, that can wait til tomorrow.
I was up early so ate breakfast then came back to bedIt was very misty an hour ago, not sure if it's going to clear up or not. I'll get up and dressed after this cuppa, I have a couple of small jobs to do then we're going for a drive for an hour, I'll dig the thermal mugs out and make coffee to take with us. Not sure what's happening this afternoon, might just laze around

Morning all,
Seems like a nice day here again I have the bedding in the wm and will hang it on the line for a blow.
Went up to my mums yesterday, she is moving the week after next so I have helped her with the packing etc, her leg is still very sore from her op and she cant do a lot. I am much better being there on my own, my sis came for a while and wants mum to keep every tiny thing from 50 years back, books broken lamp shades and really old horrible duvet's to name a few, mum is moving into my sisters granny flat for a while, while her new bungalow is done up and will have minimum space in both so a lot of stuff is having to go.
We have a roast chicken for later I will plate one up for mum too and run it up to her, I might spend the afternoon up there again, will see how I get on.
Need to do an online shop today, if I go up to mums I will ask OH to do it.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning everyone, dry here today and not too cold but I've put the washing up in the utility room as there isn't a breath of wind and the ground is very damp. I don't think it would dry outside.
Docky goes from strength to strength, he's a different boy since he started on the Zylkene, I was very doubtful that it would make any difference but oh my word, he's the fun doggie we always had again. He's enjoying his life so much it's a joy to see him enthusiastic about food, playing, walking, cuddles even running with his doggie pals when he's off the lead, he can't do much more than 5 minutes, but he enjoys those 5 minutes to the full!
I'm finalising the christmas food list today and have decided to get it delivered rather than have to do battle in the shops close to christmas. Things like milk and bread we'll be able to get here in the village but I'm going to get everything else delivered on the 22nd as DD and I get home from our trip and DD2 arrives in the evening of that day to have a couple of days with us before christmas. I'm keeping the food simple and will just enjoy their and Zebras' company. Can't believe it's the first day of Advent today, christmas will be upon us before we know it won't it?
I'm getting all the cards written this afternoon ready to deliver or send (only the abroads) and will wrap all the christmas presents next week so all will be ready and I can go to Berlin and enjoy it not worry about what is still to do at home.
Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning.
It's bright and sunny in newcastle. Was odd being back here for the first time in a year but so lovely to see old friends. We had dinner out and the saw Ross Noble at the City Hall. Late evening so I'm just up.
Today's plans are for breakfast, bit more chat with friends and head up the motorway to Glasgow.
I'll read more later tonight.
Hope everyone is doing well0 -
Morning All
It's looking good here, if the sun shines I can put the mountain of washing on the airers in the conservatory, it gets lovely and warm in there.
Well, I survived the outdoor centre, the children were a pleasure to be with, the food was good and it didn't rain much! I am now snowed under with washing but will plough through it.
Our little house guest has gone home, he is the sweetest little dog and we are missing him already. I took him home yesterday afternoon and was given some restaurant vouchers for looking after him, totally unnecessary but lovely all the same. I think we will wait till between christmas and new year to use them as DS2 will be home for a couple of days.
tru - you sound so much happier and relaxed now you have finished work.
RR - Big hugs to you, just remember you did everything you could for little dog, he will have gone to a happy place knowing he was much loved.
sistercas - my thoughts are with you too.
Hope everyone is ok, will catch up with your news later.
Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX0 -

Morning everyone
Essex-girl - Just read your post MALE STRIPPERS AT BINGO! - we don't have that kind of bingo round here - where are you? Sounds very entertaining!
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Damp and misty here.
Everyone up, boys gone to my parents to do car washing and polishing, DH in the bath, I’m now going for a shower.
Dinner last night was HM egg and mushroom fried rice with chicken in spring onion and oyster sauce and stir fried veg – all eaten and enjoyed very much. Thought as we’d been out and I hadn’t planned very well we might finish up ordering a takeaway – especially when DH asked what did we have to eat and I told him, he’s not a big fan of stir fry – so he asked if we could have a rice type dish with it – which I had thought about anyway as just the chicken and stir fry veg wouldn’t have been enough anyway. Today we have leg of lamb – will be needing to get it in the oven soon as it’s a large joint and love lamb that has been slow roasted, I’ll do all the normal accompaniments – roasties, mash, carrots, broccolli, peas, gravy and Yorkshires, I’m going to also make a pan of braised red cabbage, so will need to get going with that to as it takes an hour and a half in a pan – but it’s so worth it! Also it keeps well too, you can either store it for a day or 2 in a lidded/covered dish in the fridge or freeze it.
Yesterday once DH got home from work, he was home by 10am so not too bad, we did a couple of jobs at home, had egg and bacon sandwiches for lunch then went to the local big car accessories store for DS1 to get car mats, foot pump and some jump leads for his car, we then went to visit my parents and the outlaws, once we got home I started to think about what we were going to have for dinner and started prepping food whilst chilling with a glass of chilled white wine in the kitchen – menfolk were all watching tv/doing other stuff – so I’m quite happy being in the kitchen on my own and also it’s not a tiny kitchen but narrow so I prefer to work alone in there. I’ll be sorting the pack ups etc too, once I’ve got all the veg etc prepped, then I get chance to chill once lunch is over.
Have peaceful Sunday’s everyone x
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
male strippers at bingo whatever next! Mind you, two gay men friends of mine were going to see a male stripper on Friday. Twas fun from all accounts. A room full of ladies and two men drooling over what was in front of them. They wolf whistled and everything. I'm just surprised they weren't booted out.
A day in the house I think, mind you I said that yesterday and ended up at the shopping centre. I went with the intention of buying a floor steamer but last minute I thought, sod it. I spend money on my kids, the grandkids and the house. Rarely spend anything on myself so I bought myself a knee length skirt and white overshirt to go with it. I bought hubby a polo shirt I liked too.
Hubby is busy jet washing everything outside that doesn't move. Ive asked him to blast the drains too. Everything in the garden seems to be covered in green moss.
Majority of the household bills go out of my account tomorrow. Reminder to self to check hubby has put the money in my bank account. I wonder if he has remembered we don't pay water rates for a couple of months.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
