Daughter dropped our old digital camera on the conservatory floor and it's smashed! Not that bothered as it is almost 7 years old and had a good innings!!
Fab excuse to buy a new one though in time for our summer holiday, and I've been looking at the Samsung GX-10

Has anyone got it? Pros and cons of it would be much appreciated!
Thank you!

Pretty much the same camera as the Pentax K-10D, so you could read reviews for that model to give you some more idea about the Samsung. From what I have read the Pentax is pretty good.
Quite a large camera - do you want to be lugging that around?
The twin lens kit is here for £599:

Note also £100 cashback from Samsung! (Although I'm sure you know about that)Charlie0 -
Thanks Charlie. Samsung is the same as Pentax, hmm, that's interesting!
It hadn't registered with me that is was quite large - I think I'll go into my local Jesseps and see if they have one I can look at before I order it online.
I dont think we're fussed about the twin lens but thanks for that link anyway, will have a look later! We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Just remember that the lense that comes with it is only around 3.5X zoom0 -
I'm assuming your original digital camera was a point and shoot compact. If you want something still fairly compact but a step up in capabilities (but not as compex or as big as an SLR) how about the Panasonic FZ8 - 12x zoom, without having to change lenses?

Yes, our previous was a Fuji Finepix 4800 Zoom which we had no problems with at all until Meg dropped it!!!!!
Was looking at Fuji's this afternoon - what are your opinions of these ones?

From what I have read, the Fuji's are pretty good cameras. The s9500 and s9600 are getting on for SLR size, the s6500 slightly smaller. The best thing to do is get your hands on the cameras and find out which feels most comfortable in your hands.
If you haven't already found them , the following sites are good for reviews:

I looked in the local camera shop window today at the Pentax K10D (Samsung GX-10) and it is quite a big camera compared to the more compact Nikon D40. Having read the Pentax/Samsung reviews, I would be happy to have one - it depends on what you want. If you definitely want an SLR, but don't want the bulk, you could consider the Nikon D40 or Olympus E-410.Charlie0

Cheapest (I could find it) is at Dixons for £230 delivered. Dixons Quidco cashback is vague though. G0 -
Well I've taken the plunge and ordered the Fujifilm Finepix S6500fd Zoom from Jesseps.
3% cashback from Quidco and I found a code for a further 10% off so I'm happy.
Being delivered Tuesday. Can't wait to play with it before going on holiday in a fortnights time. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
