I've been Money Tipped!
My daughter has started to make short keyboard turorials on YouTube.

However, she now wants a better digital camera than the one she has (Canon Powershot A490).

It isn't really for the pics but the sound quality.

The Canon makes her sound like she has a lisp on playback!

Can anyone rec a camera with very good sound quality for under £60 please.

No camera has a decent built in mic.

You would normally plug an external mic in

The powershot is a stills camera that does video, if you want to record decent videos you need to buy a video camera. you will never get a stills camera that does decent video and you will never get a video that does decent stills.

TV dramas have been shot entirely on a stills camera the Canon 5D Mark II it is a high-end camera but still not a video camera. http://petapixel.com/2010/04/09/house-season-finale-filmed-entirely-with-canon-5d-mark-ii/

a £1000+ DLSR not quite in the same league as a £100 point and shoot is it ?

Cannon DSLRs are generally designed to double up as a camcorders and have the appropriate hardware/software, where as in the majority of still cameras the video function is pretty much an afterthought.

I would really label it under "the exception that proves the rule" rather than evidence still cameras make awesome camcorders.

I would have thought that sound quality is pretty important for this sort of video so you need to do this properly. You would need to record the keyboard via its line out and also use something like a tie-clip mic on the person speaking. These would feed a small mixer which would then be connected to whatever was doing the recording. I would recommend one of the Zoom Q series recorders which are more sound oriented than most video cameras - something like

which is in the middle of the Zoom range.
