  • Don't upvc doors usually have multi-point locking etc ? - bit tricky in a wooden frame ?
possibly overkill in a external garage door - or is it because you want upvc to avoid painting
normally a upvc door comes with a matching frame - doesn't it

A pvc door comes with its own frame. Yu cant put a upvc door into a wooden frame.

A UPVC door can be made to measure. It will fit any gap you have as they'll cut it to the correct sizes when they manufacture it for you.

Not sure a made to measure is in my budget! , was thinking along the £250 lines max (off the shelf jobbie?)

It's not that much more expensive getting made to measure and it will fit perfectly.

If you are willing to pick it up and fit it yourself then I can't see it costing much more at all.

A quick google search and the cost for one is £339 made to measure and delivered and including VAT and including handle and cill. I'm sure you can find one cheaper.

Further googling and how about £279 http://www.justdoorsuk.com/upvc_back_door_detail.asp?ID=318

Not a recommendation just a google search.

Just to add a bit more....my door on my garage is in far worse state than yours. The bottom panel has pretty much rotted away despite painting (not regularly enough though) and a hard push and I'm sure my door will fall apart. At least your door looks a bit secure. What's wrong with getting the tools out sanding it back, filling holes, replacing the rotten bits and painting it? £30-£50 every five years or so should just about do it...and a day of your time. You could as you say get someone in and do it for you if you want.
