NCP parking charge Shenfield Station

Hi All,
I received a PCN window sticker on my vehicle at Shenfield (NCP) station on 18/11. I had paid the off peak day rate via phone, so had no windscreen sticker.
There's 2 types of bays in the car park, permit bays and normal ones; i parked in a permit bay as there were no normal ones available - upon ringing the car park payment number i told the woman about these and she basically said she didn't know much about them, didn't tell me i couldn't be there (if she had stressed it in any way i would have left) and she proceeded to take my £4.40 payment.
So i got back and there's the sticker, and the next day i looked online as it said more details there, clicked on the further evidence section and the attendant had taken photos of my vehicle with no parking ticket in the windscreen, but amazingly not managed to capture any of the writing in front of the vehicle that said 'permit bay', therefore in my opinion all they seemed to have done is prove that I had parked there, and just didn't have a paper ticket, not that specifically which bay i was parked in was disputable.
So i have got the £75 parking charge notice, £50 within 14 days etc. I've read quite a few of the threads on here, but still seem a bit unsure of exactly how to proceed - do i do nothing and wait for their first written correspondence which is the 'notice to keeper' letter? Or am i meant to write the first appeal now directly to the NCP?
Any help is of course greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys,
Seb.

Hi Seb,
I hope by now you have re-read the NEWBIES sticky thread near the top of the forum and spotted that the answer to your question is already there.do i do nothing and wait for their first written correspondence which is the 'notice to keeper' letter? Or am i meant to write the first appeal now directly to the NCP?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
