Sat nav choices

Can anyone please make comment on which is better between : TomTom GO 60 6-inch Sat Nav with Lifetime Map of UK, ROI and Traffic
and Garmin nuvi 42 4.3" Sat Nav with UK and Ireland Maps.
Many thanks.

  • Well as the Garmin (with lifetime maps) is half the price of the Tomtom , unless the extra screen size is a deal breaker, or the Tomtom has specific functions you require, I know which I would go for.

"Better" is very subjective. If you've used both Garmin and TomTom, you would know which one you prefer. Most people will have used only one of the two makes. I have used Garmin; I like Garmin!
  • I have used both but don't really have a preference. Both are upcoming on Black Friday deals so are you saying the Garmin ought to be about half the price of the Tomtom? Why the price difference? There's usually a reason?

Most of the sat nav reviews i have seen put the Tom Tom eco system in first place for routing .

    Much more versatile.

No I just looked them both up on Amazon, the Garmin is £69.99, or if you want 6" screen £99.99.

The TomTom 4.3" is £99.99 or for the 6" you origionaly asked about, £159.68

The TomTom has European maps the Garmin UK and Ireland, both free life time updates.

Note, free lifetime updates means for as long as the company supports the device, not forever.

Personally I prefer Garmin to TomTom, but that is a purely subjective view with all things being equal.

I've tried both. I ended up giving the Garmin away.
