Sigma Red appeared on credit file?

Hi,
I need some help with a Sigma red account that has just appeared on my credit file,
The account is in relation to a Lloyds bank account that i defaulted on years ago, I am in a payment plan for that account with Restons. The date of the default was in 2008 so the account disappeared from my credit file this year. However this sigma red account has now appeared in relation to the bank account and is showing as an AP agreement to pay on my credit file even though I have no idea how there involved (not paying them or had any correspondence from them) or why it should still be on my file, can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks

Are you sure its the same account? Have you got proof of the previous default. Copies of previous credit report showing it.

  • Hi, yes. The amounts are the same. As for previous copies of my credit file....I once disputed a entry on my file. Duplicated accounts for Lloyd's for the very same debt so the credit agency remove the duplicate. Im sure I could get that report from them.

OK should be easy then. Send sigma a copy of that saying the account was removed from your credit record under CRA rules 6 years from the recorded default date. That by putting it back on with the original default removed or altered they are recording false and inaccurate information and so breaking the law under the Data protection Act. Tell them you will be taking them to the ICO and FOS if they dont remove it and may consider court action.
