Lost old Air Miles?

Hi, please move this if in the wrong thread.
I just found my old Air Miles statement and my mother's which have approx 3500 points.
I found out they had become Avios and set up an account using my old account number.
It would seem that all points have been set back to zero since 2013.
Could someone please confirm that it is not possible to use these old Air Miles points?
TIA

Just been given this by Avios:
customeraccounts@avios.com
Appeals may be considered after old Air Mile accounts have been closed.

General rule is that accounts are closed and avios lost if no avios are acquired or spent in 3 years.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. sometimes like with singapore airlines you are able to reactivate them if it's not so long ago0

I would just add... 3,500 is a fairly small amount, really not worth going to much trouble in the attempt to reclaim them.0

Airmiles were worth 10 Avios, so it may be worth chasing0
