"TravelSupermarket is giving you, lucky readers, the chance to win a seven-day holiday in the sun this winter with one very special condition: you won’t even have to take any leave. Instead, a “holiday double” will be playing the desk drone for you, doing all your work, while you’re swanning around on sunny shores in your best swimwear.

What?! How will you pull that one off? We’re glad you asked. While the winner of this wonderful competition is sipping sangria in St Lucia or soaking up the sun in the Seychelles (the destination remains secret but we guarantee it will be rather nice), the lucky someone’s double will be back at his or her place of work, filling in. The double will not only be similar in height and build to the winner but will also – here’s the cool bit – be made up with prosthetics to look as close as possible to the person being replaced. Will people notice their colleague has been swapped? How long before they twig that Angie in accounts’ sums aren’t adding up or that Ivan in IT can’t actually turn his computer on?

While frolicking on foreign shores, the winner might not care too much about what’s going on back at the coalface, but later, once the tan fades and alarm clocks and traffic have replaced the sound of tropical seas caressing gleaming white sands, our holidaymaker might be a little curious as to how the double got on. That’s why we’re filming the whole episode, so that our winner, the rest of the competition entrants and indeed everyone on the planet can see exactly what happened."


"The holiday double competition kicks off on Thursday November 27, 2014 and runs until midnight December 8, 2014. The rules couldn’t be simpler:

1. Follow @TravelSupermkt on Twitter.
2. Then post a selfie, using the #HolidayDouble hash tag, showing why you deserve some sun. It could be anything from a picture of you caught in December rain to warming your quivering hands by a fire.
3. Entrants will then be shortlisted and a final 10 interviewed by members of the TravelSupermarket team.
4. The winner will be chosen from these finalists (see full T&Cs below).

After that, all that’s left for us to do is have a clandestine discussion with the winner’s employer to arrange the week off work, ensuring no one else in his or her team hears even the faintest whisper of what’s going on. And all the winner has to do is start packing. And keep super-schtum about the existence of the holiday double!
