Could you please advise the best option
Hot water and central heating both are not working. Engineer visited and told me air pressure pump needs to be replaced and charged £40 and further 155 for supply and fit.
I think about to join with repiar and breakdown schemes

will it be worth to join British Gas or do i need to go with independent repair.

Impossible to say. Depends how much is going to break down in future.
With an independent you might get really good people at a really good price. But there is a risk you might get a cowboy.0 -
            in similar situation.
Thinking that British gas is a fixed cost, so no hidden surprise, but looking at independents may work a little cheaper.0 -
I've had British Gas out twice, £69 (under half hour) & £179 (under 2 hours) inclusive of parts. They tried to get me to sign up for a contract but it's very expensive.
I was going to use an independent but I stumbled across one of their forums where it seemed to me a lot of them didn't have much idea.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
