Asus Transformer and iPlayer

I have an Asus Transformer tablet which runs Windows 8.1.
I downloaded the BBC iPlayer and was, initially at least, able to download BBC programmes to this without problem.
However, the iPlayer became unstable and refused to download anything.
Thinking the program had become corrupted, I uninstalled it, then tried to reintall it, but without success.
I believe there is a problem with iPlayer on Android tablets, but does anybody know how I might fix it on my Windows 8.1 tablet?
Somebody suggested clearing the cache, but I'm not sure how to do that, if that is indeed the problem.

Being a tablet shouldn't matter. However clearing the temporary files may work (I'm assuming you are using the app?). Try this:
1. Uninstall the player again.
2. Navigate to C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Temp (you will have to type this or enable hidden files) and delete everything within this Temp folder
3. Reinstall iPlayer
I can understand deleting everything in the Temp folder may seem worrying but it is temporary files, non essential - google it if you want some verification.
Good luck0 -
Hi MrWW,
Many thanks for this.
I would love to do what you suggest, but how do you get into C on 8.1? It's been years since I've done anything like this and 8.1 baffles me. Any pointers?0 -
Do you see a yellow folder icon on your taskbar or start layout? Or a Computer icon?
If all else fails, press START+E0 -
I can access the Temp folder on my laptop, which runs Classic Shell, but I am stumped on the tablet. On it, I can find Users, get into my account, but there is no Temp folder there!
Does anybody know where it might be?0 -

It's hidden! Two options, type it in manually. Or tick Hidden items in "view" in the top ribbon (It'll be under the AppData folder).0 -
OK, found my way in! Why has it become so difficult?
For reference, you have to go to the desktop, press Windows R and then type in %temp%.
I've deleted all temp files and when I have stopped yelling how much I hate Windows operating systems (I normally use Linux) I will try and reinstall iPlayer.
If I have a problem, I'll be back!
But thanks for your help WW.0 -
Funny that, I have always used %temp% but that doesn't seem to work on my laptop (Windows 8.1 Enterprise). I assumed MS had removed that feature but perhaps not.0

WW,
It worked! Thanks a lot.
But why does clearing the temporary folder make iPlayer work? Why would it get stuck in the first place? I don't have much history with iPlayer, but I am surprised that a BBC program does this.0
