Black Friday - yankee doodle dooooooooo!

ref poll "how many black Friday threads will we see?"

A LOT I hope - as we're English not Yanks, and this is retail gluttony and greed at its most cynical!

it leaves me with no respect for the human race - the stampeding is akin to the London Primark stampedes the other year- people are just so STUPID sometimes you'd think that if you got a sheep dog to round up all these chav idiots the dog would be the brain of the bunch cause on one hand the dog's doing it's job and on the other you have a bunch of IDIOTS who have just been paid have no idea what thanksgiving is and just think "he's doing it, she's doing it, lets all riot and stamp on each other to get 50% off stuff that's been pre marked up 100%"

all I can say is the retailers must be laughing all the way to the bank!

look at the reason why it's called black Friday - in the black i.e. not in the red, who is in the black -me , you, or the scam retailers who have sold this very American idea to us idiot sheep herd over here?

it disgraces intelligent people everywhere, how easily we, the UK public are manipulated by cynical retail giants who apply a mis matched US concept think - ok - maybe no thanks giving, no America, but hey "black Friday" sounds cool they'll buy it

and we have.......

completely depressing!

    I haven't . . .

Edit: Just got an email from an on-line ink co I've used in the past:

"Black Friday is proving to be a little insane, so we are joining in . . .<snip> . ."

Made me laugh :rotfl: shame I don't need any.

I didn't either, I would rather not get involved in the mass stampede although saying that we didn't have any of the scenes like in London and Manchester area.

I wont agree with everything OP posted.

But, yes the behaviour of some people is disgusting, I went to one of the supermarkets on the way to work, pushing shoving grabbing handfuls of stuff they don't need. I wonder how much of that will be flogged on trying to scam those who refused to participate.

You were doing so well until this bit of over reaction.

I dont think you can blame the retailers for selling their tat to make money - what your ire should be aimed at is the thick idiots who got excited over buuying cheap tellys so much so that they started fighting.

Its the public that are mainly at fault here.

The quicker we forget about black Friday the better. But let us remember that despite the media hype the majority of shoppers out looking for a "bargain" that day behaved as normal shoppers.

Sure those that made the headlines were idiots, but let's keep it in perspective.

I think if the supermarkets were to have organised it better in terms of security and maybe not have it like a mass stampede for the TV's but more organised then it would be more pleasent and maybe not be in the news.

Dunno - the 4 year old doesn't need a 50 inch tv as it won't fit in her stocking so I've not even bothered looking. Thursday's Amazon order of 3 bottles of proper German schnapps is due for delivery tomorrow so I will be very happy. Very, very happy. Actually very, very drunk!
