The reply is a detailed rebuff of my bad review, that could only be from the owners of the business, I believe he has told the police it was he who wrote it. Why they got involved is another matter.

I'd like a written apology from them, just to make it clear there's no stain on my character.

Where is this exactly? Show us your problem if you can?

So you are allowed to post a bad review but they are not allowed to post a rebuttal!

Not at all, they are allowed to post anything they want , except libel.

Before I made the post I took a picture of every claim I made, its 100% genuine.

I don't think I should give you a link to it, the libel has been removed anyway.

    My post was not anonymous.
  • Did you post the review under your own name - and if anyone who knew you - by some fluke had happened to read it would they have realised it was you posting ?
TBH if I ever read a review by say for example "Mark Smith" I would not for one minute ever imagine it was a Mark Smith that I knew ...
  • Can I paint my large van with " do not use ( name of business ) ltd " it will be driving around in the local area all the time, is that legal ?

That might be skating on thin ice. If you put something truthful (like "I had a bad experience using [Name of Business] Ltd") then that might be OK.

Would it really be worth the time, effort and money?

You left a bad review, they replied with false truths all under anonymous names -- frankly who cares.

Anybody with any sense reading a reply to a review obviously from the company saying the customer is a thief will quickly realise they are a bunch of idiots so it's hardly doing them any favors!

Get over it and move on

    LOL.

Just think about it one second....

    - Someone posts a comment about being a thief whilst being anonymous online. You have no concrete proof that it was person X. The police/government would only give a toss if they were terrorists or something of a threat to national security etc. You might have some luck if you are good with computers (IP tracing etc) and if the anonymous user hasn't masked their IP or any personal information, but even then you have to convince someone to actually care (tends to come hand in hand with your social status and your bank balance to be totally fair). A lot going against you to be honest...

    - You paint a bullseye on your van, which has a number plate on the front and back (and which any police officer can punch into their machine and look you up on the DVLA). In a mobile/digital world, there are also a lot of cameras knocking around and especially in watchdog Britain you are going to be clocked quite a few times on CCTV, maybe even a few mugshots too. You might even open up a saga possibly with some undesirable locals who disagree with your opinion and "do your head in" one night (unlikely, but not worth the risk)

Which one is going to cause the most hassle?
