I run a public library and I can assure the OP that they are not naff. In fact I would go so far as to say that you are naff and out-dated yourself because you have no idea what a public library provides in a local community and what it means to our society. How? Let's see, we run Adult and Children Literacy Clubs, Bibliotherapy groups, under 5's sessions, English speaking classes, IT Classes, Reading Groups, Health advice clinics, SNT drop-ins, local councillor sessions, Employment & Career consultations, housing advice but more importantly we offer a safe, clean and light environment, books to borrow for free and computers to use.0
