Some help please. I transferred all of my photos onto a memory stick (a few months ago).
I have a hundred more now (more grandchildren !) and want to put these on the stick as well. As they are all mixed up on the computer, can I merely transfer ALL photos (including those I had previously transferred , ie effectively 'overwriting' the previous transfer ?
thanks

Can if you like, however it might be prudent to make a second backup elsewhere rather than rely on a memory stick.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
the photos might be numbered , however if you have formatted your memory card , this might reset then to 001.jpg etc ,and be the same as the first lot, create a new directory on your memory card and copy the new ones there0

transfer them back making sure you create a new folder for them to go initially - depending on programmes used you can then rename each one - some programmes will do all for you an number them as importing or exportingI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

Using xcopy in DOS is the best way to copy files without overwriting existing copies.
xcopy "C:\Photos\*.*" "
\backup\photos\" /s /c /d /e /h /i /r /y /v
Will only overwrite files if a newer/edited version exists on the source drive.
Replace the 1st file path with the source directory, keep the \*.*
Replace the 2nd file path with the destination directory, keep \ at the end.
There are countless businesses out there that make a fortune selling backup software that simply runs that command for you.
And..... USB memory sticks are a GREAT place to keep backups............. If you don't value your data and can afford to lose it all, that is.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
