I thought I might take the Buy Nothing Day idea and see how many days of the year I can manage it. Anyone fancy joining me?
Money for essentials - food shopping, petrol etc - won't count (that comes out of our joint account) but anything else does: magazines, chocolate, that new top; all those 'accidental' purchases! It's so easy to get caught up in the consumerism of our society but by actively trying not to spend anything, hopefully my savings will increase! It's up to you how far you take it but anything that saves us money has got to be a good thing right?!

This is the Spend Free Days that are often described by the DFW in an attempt in them reducing their debts, in our case we would be helping our savings a little by spending nothing.
Today for me is a Spend Free Day as i havent been out anywhere today.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0 -
Oh okay, I didn't realise that as I haven't been on the DFW forum.
Nice one for having a Spend Free Day today! I succumbed to buying several cards but as they were only 30p each I figure I'm saving myself quite a bit in the long run (I found a birthday card the other day that was £4.95!!!)The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

I used to go to clinton cards and they would sell birthday and occasion cards for an average of £2 each ( some are upto £5) and then i recently discover there is another shop near by that is selling similar cards for 60p saving a £1.40 everytime. I dont often buy cards but every penny counts for saving.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0 -
Totally agree - found cards for 60p in retail outlet centre near me but this new find is even better! Here I come Asia!!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000
