But a family member contributing to the household costs wouldn't count as income.

& see for example Wokingham Council's HB form (28 pages, I defy most people not to make an error somewhere..) which asks for all occupants, relationships, NI numbers etc etc.......Different rules apply if you rent a room to a family member. The bedroom wouldn't be considered as a spare room, but your HB may be reduced because of a 'non-dependant deduction'. The amount of the deduction depends on your relative's income, but sometimes it can be ignored.

I missed the size of the flat when I stated what DH was going to give his brother! If she isn't going to have her own room then I think literally a contribution to food etc is fair so £40 is fine ... But I'd also think long and hard about such a set up being a longer term plan - it's a small space to have an extra adult in for any length of time0

But the sister's main residence is somewhere else so I don't think she would count as a resident at the flat.0 -

I take your point moji but don't think you can have it both ways, as your earlier post stated
It's either one or the other.....But a family member contributing to the household costs wouldn't count as income.
If sister is treated as per your last post (main residence elsewhere) then the income needs to go down on page 14 of that HB form
Cheers!Payments from boarders and subtenants0
