I usually listen to an American radio station at this time of year as they play Christmas music.

This year it won't work on either tune-in radio on my I-phone or the computer.
I am guessing that it may be limiting it's broadcast to USA IP addresses only?

How can I get around that?

You need either a different DNS or a VPN service, most paid for providers start around £5 a month.

Have you checked what they use, one station I listened to moved to IHeartRadio, and there's no squeezebox app for it so I simply found another station to listen to..
  • Check out apps like open-vpn or hulu, not 100% if theyare on iphone but are on ipad.

Basically just makes it look like you are in america so can access services that are limited to america or what ever country you want.

    Thanks

Open-vpn, gives me a site called private tunnel. I downloaded that and it streams the station. So I guess it thinks my address is San Jose CA.

I get 100mb free data...not sure how long that will last with radio streaming? Or if there is anything better....

    At a guess, a few hours (2-4)

It depends on the bit-rate of the stream. Example:

    Bit-rate = 256 kbps
    Equates to 32KB/s
    100MB at 32KB/s = 3200 seconds = ~53 minutes

    Bit-rate = 56 kbps
    Equates to 7KB/s
    100MB at 7KB/s = 14628 seconds = ~243 minutes

Thats why I threw out a large (2hr) range :); and it was off the top of my head so its good to see I'm in the right area :)

Just gives OP an idea without having stream details.

Thanks, but I will stream most music in the home, either by I-phone and phone dock or computer. So wifi/Ethernet capability is what I need.
