Warm home discount Scottish power
thinking of applying for Warm Home Discount with Scottish Power. It would not be an automatic eligibility. Does anybody know what needs to be included in the gross income figure eg Attendance allowance. I would email them to ask but cannot find a suitable email address for that department and am not up to spending hours waiting on the telephone.

First of all, you will need to check if that supplier is still accepting applications for the Warm Home Discount. As this scheme is limited and operated on a first come first served basis, you may have been too late with this.
Remember, the Warm Home Discount applications open in May, so you might want to consider applying earlier next year.
Regarding eligibility, it does vary from supplier to supplier, so maybe someone can help you with the required information to fill out your form.0 -
Another thing with SP when we applied, we sent all the requested paperwork off, then they eventually conatcted us asking for the EXACT same paperwork again0

I don't know if you have already seen this
http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/support-centre/service-and-standards/support/warm-home-discount
but as you are in receipt of the attendance allowance then I would apply anyway and just see what happens.I applied last year as our income was below the figure quoted and got it with no proof required. The closing date is the end of this year so as long as you were a customer on July 12th you should be ok.0 -

Froglet that date is only for Core customers. For anyone else they can have just joined a supplier and have an assessment.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
Hi, depends if the AA is counted as income or not probably and if savings are taken into account. As you say froglet, might be worth a try.0

They definitely do not take any savings into account as we would not have qualified.
I have just looked again and the good news is that it states definitely, next to where you tick you are under their specified gross yearly income, that it excludes attendance allowance. So you'll be ok.0 -
Thanks froglet, very useful info0

You are welcome.Anything that helps towards the sky high cost of heating, cooking etc is always a big help.We are lucky as my husband is over 62 and now gets the winter allowance also.
My friend has a brain damaged husband who cannot work and she has only just managed to find a job part time so she can still care for him.She also has children. But she cannot get the allowance,so I give her half of ours each year and she is so grateful.Life is unfair for some people, whereas some who defraud the benefit system seem to get away with it.0 -
Froglet, yes indeed it all helps. Our heating is on all the time at moment as my husband feels so cold all the time due to illness. I do wonder sometimes whether it was worth trying to save for our 'old age' !0
