Avoid these, Said they'd tried to deliver Sorry a bit long

Will try and keep this short but precise. Son purchased a TV from LAPTOPS DIRECT/DIRECT TV/EASY COMPUTERS. on monday 16 july and terms and conditions states delivery in up to 3 days. Thursday ..told it had been passed to courier, call them Friday. Friday.. call said it would be delivered Monday so call at 8am for time.
Called at 8 am... sorry computers are down.. try later. did so 4 times. eventually at lunchtime was told it would be between 1 and 5pm.
Called 3 times in afternoon and was told it was on its way. At 4.40pm was again told it would be there by 5pm. By 5.20, no TV and no-one answering phones i went home. Tuseday ... called them to be told somebody tried to deliver at 5.30 and that i was told it would be 5.30..NO WAY!!!! I had sat there for 9 hours in somebody elses house do they think i would have gone home 10 mins too soon. When asked when they would come back, was informed it was now up to Laptops Direct. Called them and said its not down to us now. HEY am i missing something here. This is a £700 TV and he paid £ 40 for delivery. OK we will call you back leave it with us. No call cam after 2 hours so i called again. Ok they said, they will re-deliver and it will cost another £40. NO WAY they tried to deliver outside the times. They wouldn't budge so i asked for the full refund. Ok No Problem but we will deduct the £40 for delivery. BUT YOU HAVEN'T DELIVERED
Sorry thats nothing to do with us. I told them but it is if you are contracting this delivery company to deliver YOUR goods to YOUR customers. After 20 minutes i was getting nowhere and in the meantime sons TV which was paid for in full was sitting about in some warehouse. Trading Standards agreed it was wrong but legally wasn't a lot i could do as i had nothing in writing regarding the delivery times i was told verbally.
SO being very stubborn i refused to pay another £40 to them for delivery and drove a total of 96 miles round trip and collected it myself.
BTW on the box was a sticker saying " nobody home, delivery card posted through letter box".. And guess what, no card through door.
I can only presume that they went home cos they were late for their tea and decided to pull a fast one.
