been harrassed by accident claim calls how to stop

Past couple of weeks I have been bombarded with calls from companies from both the UK and India saying I have been in an accident. Roughly 2-3 per day
I tell them that I had no accident and ask them to remove my number from their system.
The ones from India are obvious with the slight delay. All say international on my display. Though I have a few family and friends that live abroad that ring me regularly have international on my display.
Twice I had calls from India and they ring me back telling me to f off!!
The UK calls say unknown. Same as a few numbers in my phonebook.
I don't reveal my number to most organizations.
Why am I getting these calls?
How do I stop calls which don't reveal their numbers?

What phone are you getting them on and what type is it?

its my landline. All international calls are displayed as international including those friends and family I have on my phonebook. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Tell them that last time they called you were so interested that you fell off your chair with excitement and bumped your head - could be a big claim; distress, alarm, loss of future earnings...and of course the obligatory whiplash trauma.

If you are getting abusive calls, that might be a case for the police.
Do you have a way to record the calls? That might help.0 -
Get a CPR call blocker. We have one and it's a god send. We've easily blocked at least 95% of nuisance calls.0

I just keep those guys on the line talking for as long as I can, ask them about the weather, kids, work etc.
They soon get fed up, especially if you tell them that you work in an insurance call centre and that is the number that they have called :rotfl:0 -
