The parking prankster has recently blogged about the activies of Debt Enforcement and Action ltd (DEAL) and the apparent Solicitor M Schwarts.

which ends with this
Most of the Civil Enforcement/DEAL cases appear to stem from Co-Op car parks who contract/contracted CE to monitor their car parks.
If we go up the principal/agent route then the buck stops with the Co-Op.
What are the chances of the Co-Op being much deservedly dragged into this in a similar way to the Wonga scandal ?

Otherwise, this report details that Wonga had to pay £2.6 million for sending letters from fake solicitor firms.

Wonga were directly involved in the scam ... Coop are tangentially involved so it's not quite the same.0

A poster over on CAG recently received this from the SRA:-
We have been made aware that some individuals have received County Court Claim forms signed by a Mr M Shwarts purporting to be a Solicitor.
A number of examples have been forwarded to our Fraud Intelligence Unit who have confirmed that this is a scam and have therefore asked that you discard this accordingly.
A further communication will be posted on our website in due course.

Yes but since then people have had a correction which says they should still defend as it's a real court claim, just with a questionable signature.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

How can it be a real court claim then? Would signing a claim "M. Mouse" also be acceptable to HMCTS?Je suis Charlie.0

Well, I've signed claims T/As before...0

What's needed is for someone going through the court process to get this in writing from the SRA. If CEL/DEAL are stupid enough to take it all the way they can be hammered by Their Honours.
Not gonna happen though.0
