£2000 should see you driving that away.
That's a Style. Op has a Zetec, good popular spec, depending on history, colour and doors I'd say £2700 is about right. The 1.4 diesel is normally a decent engine too.
OP as you still had power it sounds like limp mode, I'd be guessing without knowing more details. I had a car chew 12 teeth off a cambelt a few months back, instant loss of power and just about coasted off the main road.0 -
Well OP said it "lost all power".
Still, maybe the diagnosis is wrong so we can't really advise without knowing what the problem actually is.0 -
will people stop going on about cambelts!!!
there could be any number of things wrong here , fuel shortage / blockage , ign failure or fault
why does everybody think that a brakedown is major , and its either a replacement engine or scrap it
3 things needed
ignition , fuel and compression
in this case it sounds like one of those has failed , find the fault , then fix it.0 -

Just going by the information provided.I was towed off the motorway and to my local garage by RAC, who think it is the cam belt which has snapped.0 -
Let's wait for a proper diagnosis.
Cambelt is unlikely as you'd have had mega engine braking (excuse the pun) and would have had to knock it out of gear to coast to safety.0
